Why should you have your oil and filter changed?
Engine oil is needed to keep all the moving parts in your engine lubricated. If they aren’t, then they can’t move smoothly and will begin to wear and rub against each other filling your engine with metal particles which is no good.
Older vehicles had larger tolerances for oil ways and bearings which was more forgiving. Newer vehicles have much tighter tolerances which while offering greater performance benefits, also makes it much easier to become clogged up if an oil change is neglected.
Over time, your engine’s oil becomes contaminated with moisture, carbon buildup, and soot particles, and even becomes more acidic throughout it’s life cycle. This is a natural by product of a running engine and is unavoidable. Modern oils are designed to trap and suspend these particles safely away from the engine components, but as more buildup, it becomes necessary to change out the old contaminated oil for new fresh oil.
Regular oil changes and servicing are more important than ever before.
How to know when you are due an oil change?
- Check your oil level using your dipstick. Too little oil or too much may indicate the need for an oil change.
- Check how it looks. New oil is a light transparent brown colour. If it looks dark, thick, or gloopy, it's definitely time for a change.
- Many modern vehicles will remind you on the dashboard when an oil and filter change is due.
- If you have completed the service interval mileage or duration since your last service you will be due again e.g. 15,000 KM or 12 Months since the last visit.

Frequently Asked Questions
The time it takes to fully complete a service to manufacturers recommendations varies from car to car. For a basic service the time is typically around 45 minutes to 1 hour. A full major service which is typically carried out every second year can take up to two hours or more to complete.
Every service gets a new oil filter, and oil change using genuine manufacturer parts for that vehicle, and a full electronic vehicle health check. Additional parts which are identified based on condition or service schedules are replaced based on the customers preference for genuine or aftermarket. This takes the balance of both cost and quality into consideration.
When we select an aftermarket manufacturer for a part, we choose only those who are suppliers directly to the original manufacturers. In many cases this allows us to supply an identical product to you at a much lower cost, without sacrificing quality and reliability. If we have any doubts, we don’t offer it. Simple as that.
Put simply, no. A vehicle’s manufacturer can not deny a warranty claim provided that genuine or equivalent parts have been used and that the service schedule has been followed and all services have been carried out by a professional workshop with qualified technicians. Our invoices will highlight all work carried out along with what parts were used.
